Healthy Schools Application Open--Apply Today!!

School Nurses,

Please share this information broadly with schools in your district! The Nebraska Department of Education, Healthy Schools Program is encouraging schools to apply for recognition for school wellness efforts that you are currently implementing. 

We know you are doing great work ensuring your schools are a healthy place to learn and grow and we want to recognize you for these efforts! The application for recognition is open through January 27th, 2020 through the on-line application link at https://www.education.ne.gov/ns/nslp/healthy-schools/

The overall goal of the application is to encourage schools to:

1) apply for recognition for the wellness programs being implemented (nutrition, physical activity, mental health, within after school programs or in partnership with families and community members- we want to hear your success stories!!)  

2) attend the March 25th Healthy Schools Education and Recognition conference to receive your award and attend educational sessions to learn more about the Whole Child approach to health and academic achievement.  We will have a session specific to helping you work toward meeting the requirements of the Triennial Wellness Policy assessment during the conference as well.

Schools that apply for recognition and are able to come to Lincoln will receive a $200 stipend to attend the event to help cover sub fees and travel costs for staff attending. MS and HS staff are encouraged to bring 3-4 students to be part of our student track. The draft agenda is included here.
